Dear Neighbor to Neighbor Community, 

As many of us are processing the election results and calculating what it means for our newcomer community, we at Neighbor to Neighbor want to convey two things:

First, we acknowledge the fear and the uncertainty that people are experiencing. We know that the attempt to end refugee resettlement and family reunification is on the agenda of the next administration, that comfortability with xenophobia and racism will continue to grow, and that the road ahead will not be easy.

Second, we want to assure the community that Neighbor to Neighbor is not going anywhere. We will not bow to misinformation or hate. This community in South Bend has shown itself to be kind, welcoming, and inclusive. We will remain true to who we are, continuing to live into our mission to foster mutual relationships between immigrant newcomers and local community members in order to empower newcomers and engage community members through friendships, education, and advocacy.
